On April 2nd, most of our local municipalities held elections to fill positions on their city and village councils. Mainstreet is pleased to announce that several of our REALTOR® members ran for a position in local government and were elected by their communities.
Please join Mainstreet in congratulating the following members on their successful election:
- Quin O’Brien – Gurnee Village Trustee
- Patty Gustin – Naperville City Council
- Cindy Nelson-Katsenes – Orland Park Trustee
- Ed Hadnott – Glenwood Village Trustee
Electing Mainstreet members to public office helps to inform the residents and municipalities of the expertise and knowledge of REALTORS® in their communities. They are also able to effectively advocate for a fair and reasonable business environment for our members while protecting private property owner rights. Your RPAC contributions helped to make their successful bid for office possible. Quin, Patty, Cindy, and Ed, along with other candidates, were vetted by their local government affairs committee and were supported by local RPAC funds.
Mainstreet members can become more involved in their local government affairs by volunteering for the Government Affairs Committee in their region (South, Central, Northwest, and Lake). The online application process opens on May 1, 2019, on the Mainstreet website.
Additionally, Mainstreet and NAR are teaming up to provide grants that our members can apply for to improve the communities where they live and work. Members will be able to engage with local community officials in creating and completing impactful projects for their communities to enjoy.
